Although it is a small group, it is diverse \u2013 from infants to retirees, a multigenerational group\u00a0of all ages. Worship is fairly traditional. On most Sundays singing is accompanied by piano, occasionally with a guitar as well. The songs, hymns, and spiritual songs are chosen to reflect praise to God, confession of sin, acknowledgement of Christ\u2019s redemption, and gratitude for our salvation. The texts of our songs are\u00a0filled with content relating to the Scriptures read and taught. Some songs are hundreds\u00a0of years old and found in the hymnal, others are new and are reproduced on song sheets. Congregational participation is the focus of our music in contrast to observation and entertainment. During worship we take time for prayer, read carefully from the Bible, and there is a\u00a0\u00a0Scripture based sermon. Most sermons last from 35-40 minutes. Usually the worship service ends at about 10:40. Following the worship service coffee and snacks are served. This is an opportunity to discuss the message of the sermon and to get to know one another better. Wednesday evenings focus on a less formal Scripture lesson, and time is always taken for prayer.
